Younger Hall Byre Theatre, St Andrews
Haydn Scena di Berenice Stravinsky Apollon Musagète Fauré
Melodies (orch. world premiere C. Matthews) SCO commission Haydn
Symphony No 96 ‘Miracle’
Robin Ticciati Conductor Sally Matthews Soprano
A heart-warming richness gives Sally Matthews’ voice the special
star quality that makes her the soprano of choice for maestros
the world over. With Ticciati, she brings Haydn’s scena – a
touch of operatic high drama to match Stravinsky’s dance – then
follows it with Fauré’s heartbreaking, melancholy songs in new
orchestrations from Colin Matthews commissioned by the SCO. As
for the Haydn… the name says it all: truly, this symphony is a
miracle – one of his very finest.

Funny: Don't Make me Laugh by Tim Nunn Directed by Katherine
Morley
The Byre Theatre - AB Paterson Auditorium
You shouldn't laugh. You don't want to laugh. But you do
laugh. Your jaws ache and your eyes water. This is comedy. Why
do we laugh? What is it in us that boils up and takes over. It
feels so good but why does it happen? When it shouldn't happen –
auntie’s funeral, colleagues wedding, first meal with in-laws –
why is it impossible to control? Laughter can hurt. Humour
is power
'Funny' is a terrifying and shocking story based on real reports
from secret places, and the closer it gets to the truth the less
you're going to believe it. You shouldn't be here. You don't
want to be here. But you are here. Your body aches and your eyes
water. This is interrogation.

Everybody in the band has been playing for over ten years so we

Scottish blues scene in the latter part of 2008 after recording
their first demo together. We play everything blues influenced
from classics such as 'The Thrill Has Gone' to 'Bad to Bone' but
