Welcome to St Andrews & East Fife.

St Andrews is one of the most ancient of Scottish towns, it could be described as the town which gave Scotland its patron saint, when a saintly monk named Rule, who lived in western Greece, travelled here with his most treasured possession: a box which contained a human arm bone, three fingers from a right hand, one tooth and a kneecap; all genuine relics of St Andrew.

St Andrews is a treasure trove from the past, with the ruin of the Culdee church of St Mary on the Rock, to places where martyrs were burnt, all identified for you by plaques around the town, telling each location’s story.

St Andrews Golf has a significant place in St Andrews being the home of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club which sets the rules of golf worldwide except for USA. It is also the home of the world famous 'Old Course' golf course.

St Andrews University is the most ancient in Scotland. Today the University is thriving, made more popular by Prince William, the future King of Britain, choosing St Andrews for his University studies.

Today, St Andrews retains its traditional character, with the medieval burgh still at the heart of the modern town, a vibrant mix of the old and the new, exciting visitor attractions, excellent shopping, a fine selection of restaurants and recreational facilities.

East Fife is the area of Scotland where St Andrews is located, this part of Scotland has a fascinating history of its own with many unique attractions and fascinating picturesque towns and villages to explore.
